In this year's edition of the SHARPER European Researcher's Night we highlighted the growing threat of mosquitoes as vectors of diseases such as dengue, malaria, and West Nile virus, and explained how the insect-endosymbiont bacteria Wolbachia is used globally as a mosquito control strategy. We emphasized the importance of getting rid of stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding at home, and the children were excited to get mosquito balloons.
