Description
By analyzing mutations in the Spike protein, particularly in key domains affecting SARS-CoV-2 viral transmission and immune evasion, we aim to assess variant prevalence and its impact on disease severity.
Additionally, in collaboration with the Perugia Hospital (Azienda Ospedaliera di Perugia), we apply targeted whole-genome sequencing to identify and characterize Influenza A (IAVs) and B (IBVs) strains. This approach enhances our understanding of viral mutations beyond traditional serotyping, and is crucial for contributing to the development of more effective vaccines and treatments at both regional and global levels.
